“We should be choosing what we want to keep, not what we want to get rid of.” - Marie Kondo
Meet Diane Hart
My first career seemed as far as possible from professional organizing…or so I first thought. For 28 years, I worked in pediatric healthcare. Many of those years were working with adolescent patients and their families, and in later years, in an administrative role. So what could I possibly know about organizing when I spent so many years working in a hospital?
When I started to reflect on this very question, I realized I had been preparing for a career in professional organizing without even knowing it. In my role at the hospital, my work involved making assessments to determine patient and family needs, assisting the family to make goals for their hospitalization, working on a treatment plan, and evaluating its effectiveness.
When I helped my first client organize their master bedroom, we followed these exact same steps. Together we assessed the space, talked about goals for what the space would look like at the end of our day together, developed our action plan, and began the process of decluttering, sorting, and putting everything “in its place.” We then evaluated by tweaking what didn’t seem sustainable until we had an organizational system that worked.
My non-judgemental and respectful style, along with a sense of humour, will help you to become more intentional about the items you choose to keep. Every room in your home will bring you relaxation and calmness, and will be easier to maintain and sustain.
